NotificationShadeSummoner A tiny Android app with one job: expand the notification shade, then exit. There is no screen, no settings. It is not on Google Play. Install the APK from this repository or build it yourself. But why an app? From a user's perspective, it makes no sense to launch an app that expands the notification shade. Rather, that function should sit right inside other tools, like launchers. Sadly, Android has no public SDK call that a normal app can use to open the shade. Two approaches exist: StatusBarManager.expandNotificationsPanel()** is a hidden platform method. It needs only the normal EXPAND_STATUS_BAR permission. This app uses that path: launch, expand, finish. Some devices or skins may ignore the call. Then you get a system toast: “Could not open notification shade.” AccessibilityService** can open the shade with GLOBAL_ACTION_NOTIFICATIONS. That API is public, but it requires an accessibility service. Those services can read the screen and act in other apps. They exist for assistive technology, not for a one-tap shortcut. Asking for that privilege, and keeping a service running, is the wrong contract for this app, so it is not included.
