However, this app deviates significantly Alternative Location Services. How It Works NoGPS Geolocation is an Android app (Kotlin + Jetpack Compose) that determines your location **without using GPS satellites**. The flow: 1. It scans nearby **cell towers** (GSM, WCDMA, LTE, and 5G NR) and **Wi-Fi access points**. 2. It sends those to the **BeaconDB geolocation API** (api.beacondb.net/v1/geolocate) and gets back latitude, longitude, and accuracy. 3. It injects that result as a **mock location** via Android's test NETWORK_PROVIDER, so other apps can read it. This requires the app to be selected as the system's mock-location app in Developer Options. It runs as a **foreground service** with a persistent notification, uses **adaptive polling** (backs off from 30s up to 120s while you stay roughly in place, resets when your location moves past a configurable distance threshold or you tap refresh), and **auto-restarts on boot**.
